Clare has considerable experience dealing with inheritance claims. She also has experience of personal injury claims, and claims for compensation arising from the actions of police officers.

Clare is a Higher Rights Advocate.

She is a member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Children Panel and Personal Injury Panel. She is a member of Resolution.

Clare was President of Newcastle Law Society in 2008.

Clare read Law and Politics at Durham University and qualified as a solicitor in 1978.
