Emma Ferguson Mental Health Advice Department and Criminal Law Department

Emma is a qualified solicitor specialising in criminal defence work, predominantly in the youth court, and also in mental health law.

Emma joined the firm in 2007 from a criminal defence law firm in Leeds where she gained experience working on a high profile VHCC criminal case.

Here at David Gray Solicitors LLP Emma regularly represents clients detained under the Mental Health Act at Mental Health Tribunals, Hospital Managers Hearings, and associated hearings. Emma also advises on the Mental Capacity Act and represents clients in the Court of Protection.

Emma represents youths at the youth court, as well as adults in both the Magistrates and Crown Court. She is Police Station Accredited to advice suspects at the police station and is qualified to represent people at court under the Duty Solicitor Scheme.

Emma also undertakes Prison Law work, advising convicted Prisoners regarding their rights and entitlements and representing them before the Parole Board.

Emma studied law at Sheffield Hallam University where she obtained a 2.1 honours degree before taking time out to travel around the world.  Emma went on to study for her LPC at BBP Law School in Leeds where she graduated in 2006.
