Financial Settlements
When a marriage breaks down it is important to
consider carefully how your family’s finances will need to be
restructured. We advise on all aspects of this ranging from
relatively straightforward agreements to very complex high value
settlements. Several members of our team are
Resolution Accredited
Specialists in complex financial and property matters - we
can offer expertise when you need it most. We will advise you about
the various processes available for negotiating a financial
settlement including Family
Mediation and
Collaborative Family Law. If an application to Court is needed
we have a wealth of litigation experience - you can be assured of an
efficient and effective service.
Pre-Marital Agreements
Also known as ‘pre-nups’, we advise on and prepare
pre-marital agreements. Following a recent Supreme Court decision,
pre marital agreements can now be effective in appropriate cases.
You may like to consider using the process of
Collaborative Family Law
which is particularly suited to negotiating pre marital agreements.
Separation
Agreements
Formal agreements you make on separation without
going through the process of divorce. They may be particularly
suitable for couples who wish to formalise their separation without
getting divorced either now or in the future. Separation agreements
can cover all aspects including arrangements for children and
financial matters.
Arrangements for Children whose parents have separated
It is almost always preferable if arrangements for
children can be made by agreement rather than asking a Court to
decide them for you. We will give you clear advice about how best to
achieve this, including information about related support services
which can be extremely helpful. We will advise you about the various
processes for negotiating arrangements for children including
Family Mediation and
Collaborative Family Law.
If an application to Court is needed we have the litigation
experience to ensure your case is handled sensitively and
effectively.

Harassment

issues. Legal Aid is available for this service if you are

Emergency freezing of
assets
When a marriage breaks down and there are financial
issues, some spouses to try to hide their assets by transferring
them to other people or selling them. Several members of our team
are Resolution Accredited Specialists in complex financial and
property matters. We have the expertise to deal with urgent Court
applications to protect assets where there is evidence that your
spouse is trying to dispose of them to prevent you from getting
them.
Cohabitation disputes
Couples who live together, rather than marry, have
different rights if the relationship breaks down. We have two
Resolution Accredited Specialists in cohabitation and we can
therefore offer a high level of expertise in this potentially

We advise about all aspects of child maintenance. We
deal with applications to Court for an order that maintenance be
paid above the usual level by a parent with sufficient means, for
example where a child has a disability or for educational expenses.

services involvement with children
