Mike was admitted as a solicitor 1989 and became a partner in 1993.

Mike specialises in cases concerning Mental Health Law, particularly involving the detention of patients in Hospital under the Mental Health Act 1983.  Mike represents patients at Mental Health Review Tribunal Hearings, Managers Review Hearings and at Case Reviews. He travels throughout the Region to see clients detained in Hospitals and, using his experience as a former Criminal Defence Solicitor, advises on a large number of Forensic Mental Health cases.

Mike also advises on the new Mental Capacity Act and advises families in Displacement of Nearest Relative proceedings.

Mike is a member of the Law Society Mental Health Review Tribunal Panel, the Institute of Mental Health Act Practitioners and the Mental Health Lawyers Association.

Mike has a Law Degree from the University of Kent and a Masters Degree in Law from Northumbria University.
