Care and Decision Making

Care and decision making for family members who may be incapacitated.

If you are concerned about the health and welfare of someone who is incapacitated then contact our Care and Decision Making team in Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields. The team can represent concerned family members who require a decision from the Court of Protection that might include  where someone should live and with whom and whether he/she should receive a particular treatment.

We can also act on behalf of the Official Solicitor (appointed by the court to represent the incapacitated person’s best interests). When appointed by the Court of Protection, our Care and Decision making team can act as a professional deputy to manage the affairs of the incapacitated person.

Our solicitors in Newcastle and South Shields can also assist family members or lay deputies in managing others’ financial affairs.  Our team offers advice and guidance on managing finances when an individual has lost or is losing capacity and are able to progress urgent interim applications to the court.  The team offers an experienced and friendly service and can visit you at home.

David Gray Partner Cliff Veitch is a member of specialist Solicitors for The Elderly and has vast experience of this type of work. If you are not happy with your current advisors or require independent advice on  the issues surrounding the care and decision making for family members contact our team in Newcastle upon Tyne or South Shields.
