The Wills, Probate and Trusts Department at David Gray Solicitors in Newcastle, UK

A surprisingly high number of people fail to make a Will despite the difficulties this can create for family and friends after their death. Even more fail to take advantage of the opportunities to minimise the tax which will be paid on their Estate.

The Wills, Probate and Trusts Department at David Gray Solicitors can draw up simple Wills for clients, or give more complex advice on tax planning, gifts and legacies, and trusts.

David Gray Solicitors offer a broad range of services within the Wills, Probate and Trusts Department, including:

•           Wills and Inheritance Tax Planning
•           Probate and Administration of Estates
•           Trust creation and administration
•           Powers of Attorney
•           Claims under the Inheritance Act
•           Disputed Wills
•           Court of Protection
•           Elderly client issues and advice

Funding

You may be entitled to make a Will under the legal aid scheme in certain circumstances. If you are a single parent and your children live with you, and you want to appoint a guardian to look after the children in case you die before they turn eighteen then, if you are financially eligible, you may be able to make a will for free. This depends on your income.  If you are in receipt of Income Support or Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, you are likely to be entitled to legal aid.  If you are working it will depend upon your income.  A financial assessment will always be carried out at the initial appointment.

We prepare straight forward wills for a fixed fee of £95 (including VAT). If you want to prepare a more complex will, we will always agree a fixed fee with you.

In relation to the other work our Elderly Client department carries out, unfortunately legal aid is not available. However, David Gray Solicitors will try, wherever possible, to work on a fixed fee basis. If we are unable to give you a fixed quote, we will give you the best estimate of our costs and update you regularly. We will agree limits with you, so that we must always check with you before exceeding this limit.
