David Gray Solicitors has started October with a record number of Trainee Solicitors in post.

Seven people are embarking on the next stage of their journey to becoming a fully qualified solicitor. The firm has five main departments – Family, Crime, Immigration, Property and Mental Health and trainees have the opportunity to have seats in all departments as well as the firm’s Newcastle and South Shields offices.

Elspeth Thomson, Managing Partner at David Gray said:

“We now have over 80 staff across our two offices and as the business expands, naturally we need to increase resource accordingly.  We have added several new team members this year but we are extremely passionate about investing in the people who are at the beginning of their legal career within the firm in order to both invest in them and the firm going forward.  Seven trainees is a record here at David Gray and we wish them every success in the coming months as they spend time in each department to gain all round experience and decide which area of law they ultimately wish to practice.”

“My training with David Gray has been brilliant so far. The team have been really welcoming and are really patient in taking their time to help you learn.”

The firm, which celebrated its 40th birthday earlier this year, have received top level rankings in the two main independent legal guides – Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500 this month and have been shortlisted for a national award for their Family Law work. In addition, Amy Lamb has recently qualified as a solicitor and will be working across the crime and family departments.
