I am a solicitor in the family department; my main areas of experience include private children matters, pre-proceedings child protection matters, care proceedings, and domestic abuse. I have also acted for grandparents and other family members in respect of both private and public law proceedings.
I recognise that a lot of the people that seek my advice are going through one of the most challenging times in their lives which means that they will often have to share difficult and upsetting information; I show empathy and offer a supportive approach when advising people, keeping them fully informed throughout and giving clear and realistic advice which takes into account their individual needs and situation.
I regularly undertake advocacy and appear in court to represent clients meaning that they do not need to meet a lot of different people or repeat their instructions a number of times.
I have a first degree in History from York St John University. Following this I went on to achieve a Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Certificate from the College of Law in York. I trained with a firm in Leeds spending the majority of my training in the family department before qualifying as a solicitor in April 2018. I relocated back to my home town of Newcastle and started working in the family department at David Gray Solicitors in April 2019.
