Joanne Grey

  • Solicitor
  • I am a solicitor specialising in Family Law and deal with all issues relating to the breakdown of a relationship whether people are married or living together and any associated financial matters. I also help people when issues arise concerning their children both during and after separation from the other parent and I act for parents in care proceedings.

I have a particular interest and specialism in dealing with relocation of children both in the UK and abroad and in helping clients who wish to separate after a long marriage. I have an interest and I am actively seeking instructions from LGBT clients with civil partnership, divorce and child matters as well as issues relating to Domestic Abuse.

If clients need help with protective injunctions then I can provide advice and assistance. In all matters, I can attend court on behalf of my clients although I work hard to try and help them settle matters at an early stage where possible. I take time to listen to my clients so I am clear about what they wish to achieve so we have the best chance of securing their desired outcome.

Prior to becoming a Family solicitor, I was a senior manager with The Boots Company and believe that the skills I acquired in this profession have been invaluable when it comes to working with people and negotiating on behalf of my clients

I am a member of Resolution and abide by their code of conduct.

I have a first degree in English from Leeds University and GDL/LPC from Northumbria University which I completed whilst on a career break from The Boots Company to also raise my children. I subsequently undertook further legal training through voluntary work at Legacare, a North East based charity who provide legal advice and support to people who have terminal or life limited illnesses. I completed my training contract at Kirbys Solicitors in Ponteland and Cramlington qualifying as a solicitor in August 2015. I then practised at Burnetts solicitors for 3 and a half years as a Family solicitor before joining the firm in September 2018. During my time at Northumbria University, I represented the university at the National and International student mediation championships in London and Paris, we were runners up in London.
