Legal Aid Agency Data Breach
Many of our clients will be worried about the news of a cyber attack on the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) Legal Aid Agency data breach – GOV.UK
We share those concerns and can only repeat what the LAA are saying and urge our clients and former clients who to be on their guard and follow the advice from the LAA;
We would urge all members of the public who have applied for legal aid since 2010 to take steps to safeguard themselves. We would recommend you are alert for any suspicious activity such as unknown messages or phone calls and to be extra vigilant to update any potentially exposed passwords. If you are in doubt about anyone you are communicating with online or over the phone you should verify their identity independently before providing any information to them.
We have no information from the LAA about whose data has been compromised. We do not hold records going back over the 15 years since 2010 as we routinely only keep case records for six years. We can clearly say that we will not contact any clients or former clients asking them for information as a result of this attack. If any clients are contacted by someone saying they are from David Gray Solicitors and need information as a result of the cyber attack, please protect yourselves and do not give information.
