Our award-winning team of experienced family mediators, solicitors, and collaborative professionals work with you in flexible ways to resolve family problems without going through court.
Our mediation services are suitable for couples, families and grandparents who are looking to discuss and resolve issues with a specialised mediator
Why choose family mediation?
Going through a separation or divorce is tough and it can be hard to talk to your partner about anything. Family mediation helps you to resolve your separation issues in a constructive and cost-effective way which leaves you in a good place to get on with life. It is usually a better option than going to court or lawyers negotiating for you via letters.
Our team of family mediators has many years of family law and mediation experience and can work with you in flexible ways to best meet your particular situation. Their legal and mediation experience and proficiency in both financial and children cases means that they are well placed to manage your mediation and support you through it.
How does it work?
Everybody considering mediation is offered a private meeting with a mediator (an Information and Assessment Meeting or MIAM) to give them an opportunity to better understand their situation and their options.
We also offer an almost unique service for couples who wish to meet us together to find out about mediation and their other process options. We call this couple’s information meeting Choosing Options Together.
You might find that you could benefit from our specialised mediation services such as child custody mediation or divorce, separation and financial mediation. From here, you can book an appointment with a specialist mediator and begin to resolve issues together.
Our family mediation service
Our mediators and family lawyers are nationally recognised: our team is ranked Band 1 in both leading independent guides to the legal profession Legal 500 and Chambers UK. Clients are often referred to our mediation team by other lawyers.
We were delighted when Mary Shaw, Mediator at David Gray was awarded Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year at the 2017 LALY awards for her work with mediation clients.
National Family Mediation Voucher Scheme
The Government has set up a national scheme to financially support family mediation and making a financial contribution of up to £500 towards each mediation case. There are conditions and further information is available on the government website.
