David Gray offers a specialist service that provides couples with divorce, separation, and financial mediation. Usually, resolving issues without going to court can be much less expensive and less stressful for the parties involved. By talking to a third-party family mediator, couples can discuss their differences in a safe space.

Talking through divorce and separation

In this type of mediation, you meet with a mediator to speak about your divorce or separation settlement. There are often some aspects of a divorce or separation agreement that you both can’t agree about and the aim of the mediation sessions is to speak with your mediator’s help and come to a mutually beneficial conclusion together.

Often couples who need help with their divorce and finance can also need help with their child arrangements and the mediator can also help with this – see child custody mediation and grandparent rights.

Talking through financial matters

Financial matters and shared assets such as property or pensions can cause disagreements between couples as they try to decide what each person is entitled to. Having the opportunity to clearly understand what they have, what they need to sort out and then speak through these matters with the help of a specialist family mediator gives both people the chance to reach a sense of felt fairness. Instead of going to Court, couples can take financial issues into their own hands with the aim of reaching a mutually beneficial agreement that suits their individual needs rather than have a Judge impose an outcome on them.

How does divorce, separation and financial mediation work?

Your first step is to contact us and arrange a no obligation, one to one meeting known as a MIAM (Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting) to explore whether mediation could be a good choice for you as a couple.

For more information or to make an appointment contact our family team in Newcastle or South Shields on 0191 243 8163.
