There are several stages involved in applying for a family application, please click on the relevant tab below to understand the process including pricing.

Stage 1 – Initial Advice

We offer a fixed fee for our initial advice on options and eligibility for the different routes available.

The fixed fee ranges from £225 – £275 + VAT.

The fee depends on the level of advisor and the complexity of the case.

If you have made an application but it has been refused and you are seeking advice on an appeal or your other options then the fixed fee ranges from £300 – £350 + VAT.

The fee depends on the level of advisor and the complexity of the case. Please note that this work would be undertaken only by a Solicitor or Partner.

If a client requires a same day appointment, subject to diaries, an appointment may be offered at a further £150 + VAT on top of the standard fixed fee.

The cost includes:

  • Face to face / Skype meeting with the client (Telephone / E mail only also available)
  • Taking instructions
  • Advising on eligibility and the prospects of success
  • Providing written advice following meeting

The cost does not include:

  • Considering documents for an application – see Stage 2
  • Interpreter’s fees – usually £20 – £25 per hour, depending on language required and availability*

* If we need to pay any third parties then we will require the cost of this up front from you before proceeding.

Stage 2 – Application

We offer a choice of paying at hourly rates or fixed fee for assistance with an application.

The fee depends on the level of advisor and the complexity of the case.

The fee also depends on the type of application being made.

Please note the anticipated number of hours and fees are an estimate based on the average case. All applications are likely to vary and of course, we can give you a more accurate estimate once we have more information about your specific case.

For Spouse / Partner / Fiancé(e) & Proposed Civil Partner applications made in the 5 year route to settlement it depends in particular on the basis on which an applicant is seeking to meet the financial requirements.

For Spouse / Partner applications made in-country in the 10 year route to settlement (human rights / private & family life) it depends on whether it is an initial application which tends to take longer or extension application.

Spouse / Partner / Fiancé(e) & Proposed Civil Partner – 5 year route to settlement

Income from Employment / Cash Savings held in the UK

Hourly rates

The hourly rate is £150 – 250 + VAT.

On average, this type of work takes between 3 ½ – 4  hours to complete. This means that on average costs are between £525 – £1000 + VAT.

The exact number of hours it will take depends on the circumstances in your case. Such as:

  • The amount of supporting evidence that we need to consider
  • Whether there are multiple applicants e.g. more than one member of a family group**

Fixed Fee

The fixed fee ranges from £650 – £1100 + VAT.

** An additional fee of £50 – 100 + VAT per person is charged where there multiple applicants from a family group requiring separate application forms

Income from Self-Employment / Company Director / other income

Hourly rates

The hourly rate is £150 – 250 + VAT.

On average, this type of work takes between 4 – 5 hours to complete. This means that on average costs are between £600 – £1300 + VAT.

The exact number of hours it will take depends on the circumstances in your case. Such as:

  • The amount of supporting evidence that we need to consider
  • Whether there are multiple applicants e.g. more than one member of a family group**

Fixed Fee

The fixed fee ranges from £750 – £1300 + VAT.

Spouse / Partner  – 10 year route to settlement

Hourly rates

The hourly rate is £150 – 250 + VAT.

On average, this type of work takes between 6 – 7 hours to complete. This means that on average costs are between £900 – £1750 + VAT.

The exact number of hours it will take depends on the circumstances in your case. Such as:

  • The amount of supporting evidence that we need to consider
  • Whether there are multiple applicants e.g. more than one member of a family group**

Fixed Fee

The fixed fee ranges from £1000 – £1800 + VAT.

Family Reunion

Hourly rates

The hourly rate is £150 – 250 + VAT.

On average, this type of work takes between 3 ½ – 4  hours to complete. This means that on average costs are between £525 – £1000 + VAT.

  • The amount of supporting evidence that we need to consider
  • Whether there are multiple applicants e.g. more than one member of a family group**

Fixed Fee

The fixed fee ranges from £650 – £1100 + VAT.

The cost includes:

  • Preparing and submitting the application
  • Drafting a letter in support of the application
  • Booking an appointment at the visa application centre or UKVCAS
  • Advising on progress
  • Advising on the outcome of the application

The cost does not include:

  • Home Office fees  – you will pay this to the Home Office directly
  • Translation of documents*
  • Interpreter’s fees*
  • Medical reports / notes*
  • Postage where this is over £10*
  • Any other payments to third parties necessary for your case*
  • Challenging a decision if the application is refused – see Stage 3

* If we need to pay any third parties then we will require the cost of this up front from you before proceeding

How long will my application take?

We cannot guarantee how long the Home Office will take to process your application.

In-country applications

The Home Office state that in-country applications that meet the Immigration Rules take around 8 weeks to be decided.  However in our experience some cases take far less time and some longer, depending on the circumstances of the applicant.

It may also be possible to pay an additional fee for a premium or super-premium service and receive a quicker decision.

Out of country applications

The processing times depend on the post but where data is available the Home Office state that these take around 12 weeks to be decided.  However in our experience some cases take far less time and some longer, depending on the circumstances of the applicant.

It may also be possible to pay an additional fee for a priority service and receive a quicker decision.

Stage 3 – Challenging a negative decision

We can advise where an application is refused and there is a right of appeal or Administrative Review.

The fee depends on the level of advisor and the complexity of the case. Please note that this work would be undertaken only by a Solicitor or Partner.

To prepare and lodge an appeal to the First Tier Tribunal

We offer a choice of paying at hourly rates or fixed fee for assistance with lodging an appeal.

Hourly rates

The hourly rate is £195 – 250 + VAT.

On average, this type of work takes around 1 ½ – 2 hours to complete. This means that on average costs are between £300 – £500 + VAT.

The exact number of hours it will take depends on the circumstances in your case. Such as:

  • The complexity of the case
  • The amount of supporting evidence that we need to consider
  • Whether there are multiple applicants e.g. more than one member of a family group**

Fixed Fee

The fixed fee ranges from £350 – £550 + VAT.

The cost includes:

  • Advising on the options available
  • Preparing and lodging an appeal (if advised)
  • Advising on progress

The cost does not include:

  • Appeal fees*
  • Translation of documents*
  • Interpreter’s fees*
  • Medical reports / notes*
  • Any other payments to third parties necessary for your case*

To prepare an appeal for oral hearing before the First Tier Tribunal

We offer a choice of paying at hourly rates or fixed fee for assistance with preparing a case for an oral hearing.

Hourly rates

The hourly rate is £195 – 250 + VAT.

On average, this type of work takes between 5  – 8 hours to complete. This means that on average costs are between £975 – £2000 + VAT.

The exact number of hours it will take depends on the circumstances in your case. Such as:

  • The complexity of the case
  • The amount of supporting evidence that we need to consider
  • The number of witnesses
  • Whether expert evidence is required
  • The number of hearings involved

Fixed Fee

The fixed fee ranges from £1000 – £2100 + VAT.

The cost includes:

  • Advising on progress
  • Preparing Witness Statements
  • Advising on evidence in support
  • Collating Appellant’s Bundles
  • Liaising with the Home Office
  • Booking and Briefing Counsel
  • Advising on the outcome of the appeal

The cost does not include:

  • Counsel’s fees*
  • Translation of documents*
  • Interpreter’s fees*
  • Medical reports / notes*
  • Expert reports*
  • Postage where this is over £10*
  • Any other payments to third parties necessary for your case*
  • Any onward appeal including an applications for Permission to Appeal to the Upper Tribunal

To prepare an application for permission to appeal to the Upper Tribunal

The fee depends on the level of advisor and the complexity of the case. Please note that this work would be undertaken only by a Solicitor or Partner.

We offer a choice of paying at hourly rates or fixed fee for an application for permission to appeal to the Upper Tribunal.

Hourly rates

The hourly rate is £195 – 250 + VAT.

On average, this type of work takes between 1 ½  –  2 ½ hours to complete. This means that on average costs are between £300 – £625 + VAT.

The exact number of hours it will take depends on the circumstances in your case. Such as:

  • The complexity of the case
  • The amount of supporting evidence that we need to consider
  • Whether there are multiple applicants e.g. more than one member of a family group**

** An additional fee of £50 – 100 + VAT per person is charged where there multiple applicants from a family group requiring separate application forms

Fixed Fee

The fixed fee ranges from £350 – £650 + VAT.

The cost includes:

  • Advising on the options available
  • Instructing Counsel to advise on and prepare Grounds for permission to appeal
  • Preparing and lodging an application (if advised)
  • Advising on progress

The cost does not include:

  • Counsel’s fees*
  • Translation of documents*
  • Interpreter’s fees*
  • Medical reports / notes*
  • Any other payments to third parties necessary for your case*

Onward appeals to the Upper Tribunal or Court of Appeal

The fee depends on the level of advisor and the complexity of the case. Please note that this work would be undertaken only by a Solicitor or Partner.

This work would only be undertaken at hourly rates.

Hourly rates

The hourly rate is £195 – 250 + VAT.

It is not possible to provide an average cost for this stage of work as each case varies so widely depending on the issues involved.
