Michael is a specialist criminal solicitor with over 20 years of experience in criminal and motoring law. Since qualifying Michael has represented thousands of clients facing criminal proceedings for many different types of offence, defending them in court on a daily basis.
He has experience of and can advise people concerning any criminal offence but his particular specialities and interests lie with offences under the Theft Act, all categories of assault and motoring offences.
Practicing in this area of law is very challenging and exciting. Michael enjoys it now as much as he did when he started and still gets great satisfaction from helping clients to win their case so they do not go to prison, are not disqualified from driving or receive serious financial punishment.
Michael is conscious that every case is important to the client and does his best to achieve the best possible outcome.
He is dedicated and prepares each case meticulously and as a result has achieved a high rate of acquittal. He is always available to help clients cope with the stresses of being a suspect and takes time to talk and to explain what can be complex issues.
Clients describe Michael as calm, reassuring and always available if needed. They also say he vigorously argues their cases at court.
Michael has been a member of the Police Station and Magistrates’ Court Duty Solicitor Schemes for many years having successfully completed the Law Society accreditation processes and assessments.
He has extensive knowledge in Road Traffic Law and has appeared on BBC Radio Newcastle discussions on this area of law.
Michael joined David Gray Solicitors LLP as a trainee solicitor in March 2002 and qualified as a solicitor in January 2004. He came to law following a career in the Royal Marines, during which time he served on various NATO exercises. He obtained his degree from Northumbria University before joining David Gray Solicitors LLP.
